Asalha Puja Ceremony

Join us for the Revered Asalha Puja and Wan Khao Phansa at The Midwest Buddhist Meditation Center on Sunday, 6th August 2023, at 10:00 AM!

We extend a warm invitation to all our dear friends and fellow seekers of wisdom to partake in the auspicious celebration of Asalha Puja and Wan Khao Phansa at our serene abode, The Midwest Buddhist Meditation Center.

Asalha Puja, also known as Dhamma Day, holds deep significance as it commemorates the very day when Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon, the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, in the sacred Deer Park at Sarnath, India. This pivotal teaching marked the commencement of the Buddha’s profound teachings on the Four Noble Truths and set in motion the profound Wheel of Dhamma.

Following the day of Asalha Puja, we observe Wan Khao Phansa, commonly known as Buddhist Lent or the Rain Retreat. This period spans three lunar months during which our revered monastic community immerses themselves in intensified meditation and study of the Dhamma, seeking profound insights and spiritual growth.

You are warmly invited to observe the sacred occasions of Asalha Puja and Wan Khao Phansa with us. Engage in acts of generosity and merit-making, offering candles to symbolize wisdom, and donate bath towels to support the monastic community during their Rain Retreat. Your presence will make this day truly special.
